Brevard County Farm Bureau enjoys helping and promoting agricultural education. Throughout the 2023/2024 school year Ever After Farms host field trips at their blueberry farm and their peach farm. This gave kids the opportunity to come on the farm learn how blueberries and peaches are grown and also they were able to pick their own to take home.
A group of Young agricultural producers from South Dakota visited our area and Ever After Farms gave them tours of local farms and ranches in our area. Brevard County Farm Bureau were able to supply lunch and dinner for this great group of young people.
Brevard County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting and Bar b que. Thank you to Ever After Farms for allowing us to hold our Annual meeting at you Blueberry Farm. It was a nice event and we were honored to have our Florida Farm Bureau President Jeb Smith to be our guest speaker.
Brevard County Farm Bureau along with Brevard County Cattlemen’s Association hosted a luncheon with our local, state and federal legislatures. This luncheon allowed us the opportunity to voice our concerns about up and coming legislation affecting the agriculture industry. Not only in our county but across the state. Thank you to all guest who took the time to attend and hear our concerns.
Florida Farm Bureau State Annual Meeting was held in Orlando this year. Brevard County Farm Bureau sent three delegates to the convention. It is always nice to be with old friends and make new ones. We are given opportunities to learn more about agriculture across our great state and new and innovative ways to improve on our operations.
On Tuesday, November 14, 2023 Brevard County Farm Bureau hosted a Farm City Week Luncheon for Rotary Clubs throughout Brevard County. We like to take this opportunity, right before Thanksgiving to bring awareness of where their food comes from and the agricultural operations that produce that food. We try to have quest speakers that highlight agriculture and the issues we face on a daily basis. We try to reach out to local business men and women and give them the opportunity to meet farmers and ranchers in their area. We show them agriculture is still alive and well in Brevard County.
Brevard County Farm Bureau was a sponsor for the Central Brevard Sharing Center Bar B Que cook-off. The turnout was great and so was the food. Our donation helped the sharing center to continue to fight child hunger through their Children’s Weekend Bag Pack program all year long. We are proud to help with this program
Florida Farm Bureau State Women’s conference was held in Orlando this year. In attendance representing Brevard County Farm Bureau was Laurie Schuller, Jenny Cahoon and Daisey Cahoon. Ladies from across the state gather to discuss issues facing their family farms and ranches and to share their experiences of life on the farm or ranch.
Brevard County Farm Bureau attended and participated in the 4-H Poultry Show and Auction. It is always our goal to support Brevard County youth in agricultural projects. We were able to donate $1,750.00 to help defer some of the cost the kids had while raising their poultry. It was a good show and we are proud we can support these youth and recognize them for all their hard work.
